My name is Tiffany.
I am 25 years old.
After a major car accident in November
of 1997, I was basically bed-ridden. I ate pasta and bread and watched
a lot of television. I couldn't exercise due to pain and I was sleeping
90% of the day away.
After I was able to move around and
return to work, I found that I was getting increased aches and pains and
the simple act of getting out of bed was sending sharp stabs down my whole
body.
My doctor diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia
and Chronic Fatigue and after analyzing events in my life, we learned that
I had suffered from these conditions for many years, unknowingly.
She suggested I go on a low-carb,
high-protein diet. I did some research into the Atkins Diet (since
I also wanted to shed the pounds I'd gained while recovering from the accident.)
I am a new person thanks to my
changed diet.
What do I eat? Well, I am quite
enjoying big juicy steaks. And stir-fry chicken. And soy bread. I
even made soy pasta! I have frequent salads and snacks containing
celery, peppers, broccolli, etc. I drink 128 oz. of water per day.
I do not drink sodas anymore or sugar-filled juices. Flavored Poland
Spring Sparkling Waters are my new favorite.
Any time I crave sugar, I use Stevia
which is a shrubbery that grows in Paraguay and Brazil, etc. Most
health food stores carry it. It is a sugar substitute that is natural
(unlike toxic Nutrasweet.)
I buy only Organic meats and veggies
at the Health Food Stores and make my own sauces and condiments.
Check out the recipe board for some great ideas! Nothing processed,
sweetened, pasteurized, etc. enters this mouth!
I take a ton of vitamins and I exercise
daily. I am now walking 1 and 1/2 miles per day and averaging 50 sit-ups.
I plan to increase this as the warmer weather comes.
I no longer have ANY of the old symptoms
I suffered from. I am happy and silly and vibrant. Co-workers have
noticed the difference. "You're really glowing lately. Are
you in love?" They say.
I guess you could say I'm in love
- with my new way of life. I feel more alive than I ever have!!
I welcome each day like a child.
