Hi, I'm Francine and a newbie to this forum but not to low-carb dieting. I've lost about 47 lbs since December but now am having some problesm. My blood pressure has dropped very low and I've fainted twice, resulting in a day in emergency. I've since gone off my blood pressure medication but it's still way too low......has anyone else had anything like this happen? My Dr says to go off the diet for now but I don't want to.......it took me too long to get where I am and I want to keep going. I still have about 50lbs or so more to lose. Also, my 12 year old granddaughter is on with me, she has about 20 lbs to lose.......any tips for kids and low carb?

I will look around for articles about your low blood pressure situation and get back to you, but for now, here is a site you might look at, dealing with food for kids watching their carbs.

Thought this might be helpful about your low blood pressure situation:
"I'm not a doctor, but I'm almost certain her eating low-carb had nothing to do with her low blood pressure. Just loosing weight (in any fashion) can make your blood pressure lower.
I too have been eating low carb for 6 months and have lost 44 pounds. My blood pressure is finally in the low normal range. 145/93 down to 115/70. (WooHoo!)
My mother normally has low pressure readings and has to take medication to raise it. If she doesn't she'll pass out. Getting a pressure reading is very hard for her doctor. Maybe that's how your friend is too.
There are some natural supplements which tend to raise blood pressure. She might ask at a 'good' health food store to see what they suggest or look on the internet."
If I see anything else about it, I will post it here for you.
