Hi everyone! Tiffany, I just read your journal and you are so funny.. I loved the pic. You know I feel like that sometimes... it will get so much better, just keep trying. I wanted to ask you if you feel that the Atkins vitamins really work. I am currently just taking regular vitamins... but do they seem to help more? I have been on Atkins since October and I have lost 17 lbs, but I just don't seem to be losing weight anymore.... I don't cheat and I really try to drink my water, but its had... the only thing I can think of is that I do have diet root beers and Vancouver has this great store where I can buy low carb cookies(4 grams carb, 3 grams fiber) and carmels (1 gram carb).... (my favorite) I try to only have 1 a day... but sometimes I splurge. Do you think that could be tossing me out? Also, my strips have never turned purple... at one point they were a light pink, but now they are negative. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks Tiffany for the great website! Jacksyn

I strongly believe the Atkins vitamins help me. I seem to get into ketosis a lot faster when using them. I also find the Dieter's Advantage pills to work VERY well. When I first started the diet, I lost 23 lbs. in 21 days...using both of those pills. When I stopped taking them, my weight loss slowed way down!
I also feel that the vitamins give me an extra energy boost, which I certainly need.
They're very expensive... that is the down side.
Now, about your ketosis issues... I'd be willing to bit there are some hidden carbs in what you're consuming. Stay away from salad dressings, processed low-carb foods which "claim" to have low carbs (as we're all learning, the labels aren't always truthful,) and drink more water (ugh, I know - enough is enough. But it really makes a difference.)
Are you exercising? That helped me tremendously.

Tiffany-I read your journal. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you know how much you are NOT alone with your feelings. I have no doubt that when you are ready you will do this again. I thought you looked great in the picture you took of yourself on your first day of the diet. We are our own worst critics. I know that for sure. I am on a quest to love myself for who I am, not what size clothes I wear. Can't wait to read how you are doing.

Hi Tiffany, I also read your journal, thank you for sharing. I have gone through the same thing several times as I'm now on my 5th Atkins "adventure" and I hope my last as also for health reasons I became convinced that I simply cannot eat "like the rest of the world". During all these attempts I have learned a great deal about low-carbing and how my own body has changed and reacted differently each time.
One thing concerned me though, it looks like you are not eating enough or healthily , no salads or veggies most of the time... And vitamins are best used by the body when taken with food. Dr. Atkins actually advices having them in the middle of a meal, except for chromium (when taken separately) which is better taken alone as other minerals can interfere with its absorption.
I hope you don't mind the above but as a typical latin mother of two (reluctant) teenagers I can't help dishing out advice, I almost feel it's my "mission" in life!
Oh, we have something else in common. I haven't worked in a good while (due to my messed up health) but I'm sure you'll go back to work before I do.
