Today is my 23rd day on Atkins. The scale went down some during the 1st two weeks, but hasn't budged since then. I'm technically still on Induction. I'm keeping my carbs below 15, some days below 10, and I'm still not moving. I'm going to the gym 1-2 times a week. (my goal is 3 times a week, but it's just been too hectic) I'm getting tired of MEAT and EGGS, but I'm sticking with it. Could I just be one of those people who doesn't lose on this WOE? I hope not. It's really simple to follow. Any encouragement would be appreciated.

It sounds like you need more carbs. Try upping them to 20 and see if that helps.

Pooh, I would try the fat fast that Atkins' talks about in his book. He claims that even the most metabolically resistant will lose weight on that regime. He says to eat just macadamia nuts and cream cheese for a few days. I don't know all the details... if you have the book, flip through it. Good luck to ya! And hang in there, everyone stalls at some point.

Pooh don't be upset this does work. My first week 5lb no problem but it has been slow from there. A pound or 2 a week and thats all.Just remember you didn't put it on in a day or week so it might take a little to get it off. Just stick in there.

Debbie

Did I understand that? Are you saying I might not be eating ENOUGH carbs???? How can that be? I'll try eating closer to 20 carbs a day. I do have the book and I read about the fat fast, but it doesn't look very healthy to me. I decided I'd stop weighing myself, except maybe once a week. And by the way, I DID gain some of this overnight - I have gained 3-4 lbs in 24 hours in the past!! I just wish I could lose that many in the same amount of time!!

Poosh- Try adding more water to your diet. I
believe you need to drink 1 oz per lb of body
weight. I know this sounds like alot but if you weigh more you need more to flush out the
fat. I do not go by the old rule 8 glasses a day. Hang in there with it and stay off the
scale. Set up a once a week weigh in only.
Once you have lost all you want to lose than you can get on those scales more often.

Hello Pooh,
I just wanted to tell you to hang in there.
I started on Feb 4th and lost 7lbs. This week
I gained 2.5 back. I hope it's related to my
cycle. I stick to the diet also. My cloths are still loose so that helps. The scale can
be a mean device sometimes. I know I would get on it everyday and want to throw it out the window. So instead I'll take the advice and weigh myself once a week. I know if we stick to it we will win this battle. I look
forward to our next week weigh ins.

Hi Pooh.
I am in the same boat too. I finished my fourth week but haven't lost anything since induction. I keep going up and down a half pound. I was very frustrated, but then several people at work mentioned that my pants looks baggy. I haven't been measuring... but it was just what I needed. I do not have a TOM indicator as I am on Depo but I know that I still have the water fluctuations. So...I am hopeful. Just keep reading and posting to help you get through!

Don't forget, if you're exercising, the scale may actually go up even though your fat is going down. This is because muscle weighs more than fat.

So always use the way things fit as your guide to loss. Or invest in a bodyfat monitor scale (pricey, but differentiates between fat and muscle with some kind of electromagnetic scan.)

Hi Pooh,

You're thinking/worrying too much; sit back and just enjoy all that good food you're eating that a lot of people on these politically correct diets can only dream of eating. One of these days you're wake up and your clothes will suddenly be just fallling off of you and you'll be asking yourself why you were so worried. It's a WAR; you against ugly, sickness causing FAT and you'll win if you just be stubborn enough!!!
