I am new here on this board and am trying to do the Atkins Low Carb, so far I am managing ok with induction but it has been making me feel alittle ucky for some reason. Was feeling real hungry at first but now that has gone but I just feel head achy and slow with my energy now and tired alot. Is this a part of low carb and will it go away?
I have not been eating any sweets, breads or pasta, no sugar either only splenda like it sais to do. I have been eating a meat and a vegetable for about every meal and my eggs and bacon for breakfast to. I am keeping my carbs at 20 aday..
Think I am doing things right but why do I feel so ucky so much? Whats wrong? Is it something else I need to be doing?

Be patient. This is normal. It happens when your body is switching over from burning carbs to burning fat. You will lose it soon and then it's like WOW! So much energy. I'll bet you'll be feeling terrific in another week. Hang in there, Sissy.
I'm new to the board, too, but I like everybody on this board all ready. I'm on another diet board but they are all weight watchers, so we aren't really in the trenches together like folks on Atkins are. We can do it- the healthy way!

18 hours after induction I had the worst headache of my life, then felt great for two days, then iffy for a week. Went two week all right then had a weekend of headaches, and no weight loss. Then had 2.5 good days then a poor afternoon. Doing alright now.

I guess it hits some people harder than others. I'm glad you are feeling okay now. The worst is behind you, I predict.

I am also one who feels icky when doing 20 grams a day. When I do the "Atkins", I'll do 40 grams a day which makes me feel a little better (and still lose weight). I have days where I am sooooo tired I can hardly do anything. Then I have days like today which I feel ok. I think some of us are just more sensitive to really low carb levels.

Hi I am new to this board . I am on day 6 of atkins induction I am following it to the letter as well. yesterday was the first day that I started feeling better. the first 4 days were up and down I would have tons of energy part of the day then I would crash and feel really tired. The worse I feel the more I know I am doing the right thing I am one of those people who think that sugar is posion in my body I am doing atkins as a lifetime life style change not a crash diet. I know that the it will take a while to balance out my blood sugar I so abused it I was a 300 gram a day carb eater. I am here b/c it is hard to do anything alone so glad you are all here Gina

When I do Atkins, I feel icky on and off. Today is one of those low energy days, and I've consumed about 30 grams of carbs. I will be taking a hiatus from this diet for the thanksgiving holiday, then I will start back on it full blown Monday (Friday & Sat I will be watching my carb intake).
What is the daily amount of carbs recommended in a person's diet? I think it is 300 grams. I am one of those that cannot eat 300 grams of carbs a day (any more), I'd be gaining a pound a week off of that!

mypinkbag, I'm with you about the sugar poison bit. I'm glad you are on Atkins. Soon your body will switch over to burning fat and you'll feel much better. I've been on Atkins 4 1/2 months and have lost 27 pounds. I gave up artificial sweeteners too and any food pre-packaged. Eating plain food has eliminated my cravings. I went through cooking and serving a huge meal yesterday for Thanksgiving with chocolate bourbon pecan pie and a chocolate fudge birthday cake last week with NO cheating and NO craving. For the first time in years I'm looking forward to the Christmas holidays without dread. I know I can enjoy them, stick to my program, and continue to lose. That's what Atkins is doing for me. It'll do the same for you. Just hang in there and have patience.

Everyone feels icky on around day 2-7, some not so bad... it's your body getting used to the fact your not feeding its addictions to breads/pastas/sugar/caffeine
It does pass, dont let it put you off
