Okay...so I have been exercising, eating less than 20 carbs a day, and in ketosis and my weight isnt budging. My question is will artificial sweetners and caffiene slow weight loss or just make you crave carbs so that you cheat and gain weight?

First of all, welcome to the group.

Second, how long have you been on Atkins? Yes, artificial sweeteners and caffiene will, in some people, slow weight loss. As for your exercising, if you are building muscle and buring fat it is feasible that the scale won't move since the muscle is heavier than fat. Get back to us and we'll help you figure it out.

For whatever value this may offer...I've been drinking 2 cups of regular coffee and some caffeinated diet drinks daily for a week and am still losing weight. I usually put a good bit of artificial sweetener (Equal) in my coffee. Like standing around at church waiting for sunday school to start watching people in line for donuts and kolaches.Anyway...

I'd blame the exercise, but in a favorable manner. But some people also lose weight differently... you may notice things fitting differently even when the scale doesn't move. If your pants are getting loose or you're looking thinner, chances are you're losing weight, even if the scale doesn't budge. I agree with DubhBas, muscle weighs more and can keep the scale at one spot for a while, but don't worry - you're losing weight. If you weren't, the scale would be going up as you exercise.

Try cutting out the coffee and artifical sweeteners and see if it makes a difference. Then you'll know the real culprit.
