I get angry when I hear things like this. Induction for three months? In a word NO. Induction is meant for two to three weeks tops. You want to do it for 3 months? You had a baby so your body is still recovering from 9 months of stress and hormone and blood chemistry changes, not to metion the actual birth. Now you want to do something ekse drastic to your body which could affect some of the things you need AND YOUR NEWBORN NEEDS IF YOU ARE BREAST FEEDING. Now is not the time to worry about your husband's 10 year reunion. It's the time to take care of you and your child.

I agree. Also - I know from experience that staying on induction for any length of time can wreak havoc on your system. I never left induction and it ruined my intestines! I also did some research recently that showed that too much protein can actually start deforming your bones. Not a good idea at all - especially when you've just taxed your body enough by giving birth!

Hi. I have to disagree that induction is only meant for two weeks. Induction can be used for most people for as long as they feel healthy on it. Atkins says that induction can be used for as long as you feel good, it just shouldn't be how you lose your last pounds. When I start Atkins I always do old school induction for at least 2 weeks ("0" grams carbs)to get things started faster, then I do the new version of induction (20 carbs) for as long as I need to. I think it is fine as long as you are not eating strictly protein for a long period (always adding some veggies and fats). I do agree though that waiting after having a baby is very important before doing Atkins. Maybe the better solution would be The South Beach or Low GI diets that still allow complex carbs. Just IMO.
