Initially, I had given up on caffeine. I felt horrible. I think it was mostly because I was detoxing from sugar. Once the room shifting, nausea and headaches went away, I stiff felt sluggish and had no motivation. I read someone's comment how they had a cup of regular coffee a day, and it did not interfere with their success. I on the other hand can not only have one cup...and I crave sweets (Mr. Atkins knew what he was talking about). I love the taste of coffee, I don't want to feel sluggish...help!

Had the same problem. Try using the coffee that has half the caffeine for a while while to get used to less caffeine. The go to decaf after a couple of weeks. Then switch to full decaf. Ease yourself into it.

I started Atkins April 2004 and have drank several cups of regular coffee everyday. I also drink diet coke regularly. I have not had any problems. It took me about 7 months to loose 45lbs. I myself also crave sweets. On occasion I buy sugar free candy to help with this and that also has not interfered with my weight loss. Do not deprive yourself or obsess. It only gets you discouraged. Everyone's body is different. I read an article once that said caffeine speeds up your metabolism. You just have to know what works for you.
