After I am through with the Induction Phase of the Atkins diet, I am considering switching to the 2nd phase of the South Beach diet as opposed to going on the 2nd phase of Atkins. Do you think this would stall my weight loss since the Phase I part of the diets are so different?

I truly do't know if it would matter. Would it be that much trouble to do South Beach including the induction. It's only two weeks. But I would be interested to know why you want to switch.

I would like to switch since the South Beach diets seems to be easier to stay on. Like the Atkins, it also promotes staying away from too much sugar and white flour. But the second phase of the diet allows you to eat lean meats, fruits, low-fat cheeses and yogurts, oatmeal; stuff like that. It encourages you to eat low-fat and whole wheat products. It seems like a better diet to be on as opposed to eating so much high fat stuff.

If I were in your position,,,,,,and I am,,,,,,,,,I would start South Beach from day one and do the induction. Good carb/good fat is working for me. I originally started because my doctor was concerned not only about my weight (260 lbs. at 5 ft 7 in) but my glucose was nearing borderline. I haven't bothered to weigh myself because I'm not concerned about how much weight I lose. I'm more concerned about how I feel. I don't want to let pounds control me in any way anymore. Besides, I never looked at the scale while I was putting the weight on!
