Good Morning everyone. I did Atkins 2 years ago for 6 months. I lost 15 lbs and have kept it off. Now I am back and ready to lose my last 15 lbs. Yesterday was my first day, and I did have some tough cravings last night, but I didnt cheat. It has taken me awhile to motivate to get back into this program, but I know I felt so much better when I was doing it. I wasnt tired, didnt get bloated and gassy (low fat kills my stomach) and I was rarely hungry and I didnt have cravings. So I know this is best for me and I am back in the groove. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi everyone, My name is Peggy and I am also new to this post. I did atkins last summer and lost 40lbs. unfortunately, my plate got too full and i stopped the program and have regained most of my weight back. I am not on my second day on the program and i feel great. I am exercising and will continue to do so. I have never joined a forum before but when i did atkins before it was a very lonely experience since most of my friends are skinny and just cant empathize. This forum seems great, u guys all seem so nice and friendly and i have already learned some great atkins tricks (i.e. the cheese crackers- what a great idea). look forward to getting to know everyone and happy new year.

Welcome Debbie and Peggy. I have been a member to this forum for a little under a month now. Welcome.
Debbie, there are so many recipes for induction. It all depends on your taste. I’m sure that there are some good recipes on this website, but the majority that I use I found on lowcarbluxury.com
I wish you both success (and continued success for you DubhBas).
By the way DubhBas, thanks for the advise. I have been caffeine free for two weeks now and I feel great!

I am new to this site also, but I have been doing Atkins for almost 4 yrs. I have to stay very low carb, or I gain weight. I do love dark chocolate, so it is hard not to eat that.

Welcome to all the newcomers! I have been living the low-carb lifestyle for two years now and it's a daily struggle, but it's the only way I can live my life because it's the only thing that works for me. I hope you've all adjusted to your new eating habits. Would love to hear some updates!

Are you breastfeeding? If so, I'd be careful with what you eat on a low-carb diet. You may need to do it a bit more loosely for baby's sake. Make sure you're getting PLENTY of vegetables, etc. and keep up with the water intake. And congrats on your newest arrival.
To Everyone Else,
Welcome!! I am so happy to see so many Newbies. And so happy to see the major increase in traffic and members for 2006 already!
I'll be making some enhancements to the site in the next month or so. Be sure to Private Message me with any suggestions you may have.
By the way... I am at an all-time high for my weight and will be low-carbing again as well. It is truly the ONLY way that works for me, and I know it will also help with my depression. I never should've fallen off of the wagon, but I will be back on in February and will keep you all updated.
When I first started this site, I was repulsed by myself at 178 lbs. and went on to lose 48 lbs. in just 4 months. (23 lbs. the first 21 days!) I kept it off for about a year, put some back on when I cheated, went back on....yo-yo'd with it for the past 8 years, and now here I am REALLY repulsed by myself at 200+ lbs. and wondering where the heck I lost my willpower. I think it was all the "FrankenFoods" that had come out on the market and this time I have decided to do it simple and healthy the way I did way back in 1998 when there weren't any of these readily-available low-carb foods. Just good old fashioned home cooking. Go figure.
So glad I have all of you to help me do this again. And look forward to my weekly journal returning to the site soon too!
Thanks,

Just an update for everyone... I'm not being strict about the low-carb...just basically avoiding any refined sugars or refined flour... and have dropped 9.5 lbs. in 2 weeks!
I'm using whole wheat pizza doughand am avoiding pasta unless it's whole wheat and contains a real veggie (not powder...) like spinach or artichoke. I've completely removed any type of soft drinks from my diet, have converted to sea salt instead of iodized, and if I have to sweeten anything, I use honey because it's a natural source without any chemicals or treatment. I eat toast in the morning, but it's a whole grain with only 10g carbs after the mass qty. of fiber. I'm drinking about 80 oz. water per day with lemon slices.
I'll keep updating you as the time and pounds move on.

New update: Apparently I can't have whole wheat toast or honey - they made me strat craving again and I fell off and gained 8 lbs. back. So this past Saturday I went low-carb again and am down 6 lbs. already since then. That's it guys... I thought I could be careful and smart but I lost it. So it is back to the LC lifestyle for me! First day was a bear, but now I don't miss any of the bad stuff anymore.
