Since you only have 20 pounds to lose you will find it is much harder for you than if needed to lose say 50. When it's a small amount, as in your case, it's tough. I assume you are using the Atkins plan.......have you read the book or at least visited the website? The induction phase will probably have everything you need to know. And if you are feeling tired something isn't right. Everyone else seems to have a lot of energy that I'm aware of. What is a typical days meal plan that you are having.........

I was going to ask the same thing DubhBas, what does your typical days foods consist of? Greens are very good and most are lower in carbs. Berries are lower in carbs, but I recommend a search to get a good list of things that you like. Go to the atkins site and it should help you find all those veggies.
Also, I found that it was more the inches that fell off quicker than the pounds. You should measure and measure again in 4 weeks. I would measure my thighs, waist, bust, biceps, hips. I hate scales lol, especially because, IF you are exercising, which will help the diet tenfold, muscle weighs more than fat. For example while at Curves for 5 months, I only lost 3lbs but lost 24.5 inches, it made all the difference. I went from a size 14 to a size 3 in those 5 months yet only lost 3 lbs. I recommend a water intake daily of a minimum of 64 oz. It will be miserable at first and you'll feel like your living in the bathroom, but it all gets better. Heres an excerpt from an article I was reading the other day on water ************************************************* "Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while and increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits. Here's why: the kidneys can't function properly without enough water. When the kidneys don't work to capacity, some of their load is dumped onto the liver. One of the liver's primary functions is to metabolize stored fat into energy for the body. If the liver has to do some of the kidney's work, it can't operate at full throttle. As a result, it metabolizes less fat, more fat remains stored inthe body, and weight loss stops."
"Drinking water is the best treatment for fluid retention. When the body gets less water, it perceives this as a threat to survival and begins to hold on to every drop. If you have a problem with water retention, excess salt may be to blame. Your body will tolerate sodium only ina certain concentration. The more salt you eat, the more water your system retains to dilute it. But getting rid of un-needed salt is easy- just drink more water! As it's forced through the kidneys, it takes away excess sodium. The overweight person needs more water than the thin one. Larger people have larger metabolic loads."
"Water helps maintain proper muscle tone by giving muscles their natural ability to contract and by preventing dehydration. It also helps to prevent the sagging skin that usually follows weight loss- shrinking cells are buoyed by water, which plums the skin and leaves it clear, healthy and resilient. Water helps rid the body of waste. During weight loss, the body has a lot more waste to get rid of- all the metabolized fat must be shed. Adequate water helps flush out the waste. Water can help relieve constipation. When the body gets too little water, it siphons what it needs from internal sources. The colon is one primary source. Result? Constipation."
"The average person should drink eight 8oz glasses every day. However, the overweight person needs an additional glass for every 25 lbs of excess weight. The amount you drink should be increased if you exercise briskly or if the weather is hot. Water should preferably be cold- it's absorbed into the system more quickly than warm water. Some evidence shows that drinking cold water can actually help by burning calories." ************************************************* Let us know of your typical days diet and perhaps we can further assist you better from there.

I mentioned in another post that I am a South Beach follower. I did Atkins when it first came out and it did nothing for me.
My menu....breakfast is two eggs, ham and chees omlette. snack would be some nuts or low fat cheese. Lunch would be a salad of greens, grilled chicken, hard boiled egg, toasted walnuts, bacon, diced avacado and an oil and balsamic vinagretts. Second snack would be some celery stick with a side uf homemade hummus and dinner would be chicken, turkey or beef with zucchini and squash, spinach, green beans, tomato with feta (or a salad instead of veggies). Enough water throughout the day to float a small boat.
I don't bother weighing or measuring. I can tell what's going on well enough by how I feel, how my clothes fit, my energy levels, etc.

Wow, Im hungry now DubhBas lol. I worded it wrong above. You were asking truckgirl what she had in a days time as far as food and I was agreeing with you that she post it.
Ive not been able to go through all the threads thus far, and have heard alot of great things about the SBD, I just found Atkins first and went for it and it did what I was looking for it to do. How long have you been on the SBD? What kind of results are you seeing?
Have a great Sunday :-)

I had lost about 25 pounds in three months. I was mainly trying to get my blood sugar down as diabetes runs in the family. I also have a slightly slower thyroid than normal so it's a little harder to lose. But the energy level was great, no more falling asleep by 7:30 at night. Am preparing to go back on to the diet in probably about a week, maybe April 11th. Need to get a few more things done first so I can concentrate on what I'm doing. Almost done cleaning out the kitchen and pulled a step machine from the closet.....can't do any real walking because of the lousy weather we've been having (almost have to swim).

I know, I saw the weather on the Today show this morning, well you know, SWIMMING is great exercise and easy on the body lol.
I LOVE watp (Walk Away The Pounds), it gives me room for NO excuses lol. It is done right in your own home. I used to walk (power) 5 miles a day outside, but here in muggy humid, hot Florida, and being preggo, I decided to give it a try and Im loving it. I do the 2 miles and soon to do the 3 miler.
I have to go edit the other thread as you answered when you are starting your SBD again in this one lol.
