I started Atkins 3 weeks ago and I lost 27lbs! I need to lose 20 more lbs to get to my goal.
For over two weeks now I am not losing anything, no inches, no lbs!
I do not cheat, and I do not eat anything that is questionable - that is I get all of my carbs from vegetables.
I am drinking 10 large glasses of water daily. I drink water between meals, not during or directly after a meal.
I exercise alot! I usually do 500-600 crunches a night while watching TV, and sometimes first thing in the morning. My wife and I both do Martial Arts one night a week and we go swimming at a local health spa at least 3 times a week.
I stopped losing weight in the last few weeks.
I have a couple of questions:
1) Must I have 20 grams of carbs every day? What if I only get 10 grams? What will happen?
2) Is decaf coffee okay? I do not use sugar or any artificial sweeteners, just 1 tbsp 1/2 & 1/2 creme.
3) What about cheddar cheese? I eat about 30g or 1 oz per day.
Maybe I am not getting enought fat???
A typical day menu for me is as follows: Breakfast 8:00 AM cheese omelette: 2 eggs, with 1 oz cheddar cheese in the omelette
2 or 3 slices bacon
2 cups decaf coffee with 1 tbsp 1/2 & 1/2 creme in each coffee
LUNCH 12:00 PM
1 can TUNA in water salt & pepper, 1 tsp oregano 3 tbsp safflower oil 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice 4 oz boiled cauliflower with butter
Dinner 5:00 PM barbeque Steak (usually strip loin or T Bone) fried green peppers in olive oil & garlic
Most of the time to get enough carbs I will eat 1 tbsp real peanut butter with no added sugar.
I also eat lots of romain lettuce with homemade ceasar dressing(2 eggs, 1 cup canola oil, 2 tbsp anchovy paste, fresh garlic) Quite often I will have 1 boneless chicken breast cut up with my salad.
I am using the carb charts to calculate the amount of veggies I eat minus the fibre.
I also use the program that I found on the food network website called FitDay. This automatically counts the carbs for me. IT also keeps tabs on my weight, body measurements, protein intake and all other vitamins.
IF the food is not listed in the list you can add it there. Both my wife and I have found this program to be quite useful since it takes most of the guesswork out of dieting.
Only one real problem, I can't seem to lose an ounce now! What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you Chuck

Hello, Your menu looks good. Don't worry about not losing for a couple weeks. I have been on stalls that last a couple months. The important thing is to stick to it. Don't be disappointed and give up, It WILL come off.

Chuck..........................chill...................people who have only a little to lose tend to lose it slower than people who have a lot to lose. Your menu is great, just relax....it'll happen

Thanks for the help. the last few pounds are the hardest to lose so I've heard.
I have figured out that the only way to lose the last few pounds is to exercise until you are blue in the face! I have been doing a minimum of 500 situps every day and the weight is not dropping, but my waist is shrinking!
Good luck people! The Atkins program works!

And remember that muscle weighs more than fat so even though you say your waist is shrinking the scale may say you'rre gaining..........Noxzema, nice to see you again.

I would try 1-2 TB. of Flax seed oil. It has the perfect balance of Omega fatty acids to optimize your fat burning

You lost a LOT of weight VERY quickly. Your body has to get used to your current weight before it can start losing weight again. Do not get discouraged. Stick to your plan and you will see that eventually you will start losing weight again. As some of the replies have said: the closer you get to your goal weight, the slower you will lose. Congratulations on your weightloss. You're doing great and eating great, keep up the great work!
