I really need some advice about this diet. I have been on the diet now for 2 weeks while also taking the relase program from GNC which is carb friendly and I run 1-1.5 miles a day and bike for 3 miles a day. I dont seem to be losing much weight, and this past week I havnt lost any weight at all. Im starting to get frusterated and was wondering if there was a certain time that I should eat or if I should eat one meal a day or what would drop the weight the fastest. I also take a Whey protein shake after lifting, which I do before running, and the shake says its only got 3 carbs, so is there anyway these shakes are slowing down my progress? I have to drop at least 20 pounds in a month because Im joining the guard and have to be at a certain weight level, is there anyone out there that has any advice? I really appreciate it.

You sound like you're trying to do different diets at one time. I don't know about anyone else but to me it sounds like your confusing your own body. Your doing a lot of running, biking and lifting so you're building muscle - muscle weighs more than fat. My opinion is that you're trying to do too much at one time. Three low carb meals a day with the appropriate snacks in between, lots of water - eat the proper things.....what is a normal days menu? Post it so we can take a look...might have some hidden stuff.

Chuck, I'd also recommend checking the ingredient list on that whey protein shake. Just because it claims to be low-carb, doesn't mean that it truly IS. Let us take a look at the list and help you figure out if that's your obstacle.
And I agree with DubhBas - you may be losing fat and building muscle, which will actually soon start showing as weight gain on the scale.
Does the guard care that much about weight? 20 lbs. in 1 month doesn't sound practical, or healthy to me.

Chuck, I agree with dubhbas in that you really need to eat 3 meals a day with a low carb diet. If you do all that exercising, you need lots of protien. And your shake you take may be giving you way too many carbs. Let me tell you what happened to me. I went on a low carb diet and lost 37 pounds, and while I was on my diet and even now, i take a capsule that is jam packed with veggies so I get all the health nutirients my body needs to stay healthy. Know anyone who wants to know about a product like that?

Heya Chuck, In the Atkins book, he mentions to stay away from Whey products durring the Induction phase. Even if you are past the 2 weeks of the diet, you should still continue the induction phase until you see your weight come off!
Also, I agree with the others...with all the running and lifting you seem to be doing, im certain you are gaining muscle. Whey and the protein you eat only enhance that.
Atkins advises to measure inches also. Not just weight. Use a tape measure and check your inches. If you did this when you started Atkins, and check again now, you should see a difference! Good luck!!
