well I can give you my opinion, have you read the Atkins book through out, I dont have it here right this minute to refrence but I believe he tells you that some people and thier chemistry, meaning some have higher tolerance than others, honestly if you are only trying to lose 15 lbs than you are probably not to over weight, I think this diet was geared for morbidly obese people with a BMI over 40 because I am obese and it works for me, If I continue on this diet and get down to my last 15, I could guarantee it would be just as hard to lose. your motabolism is probably notbad at all, so this may not be the diet for you, if you can get a hold of the Atkins book there is a spot in there that he talks about this kind of thing. hope this helps!!!

I know people who started Atkins very overweight. Over time, by sticking to it, they successfully reached a healthy weight. Some were discouraged to find that the last fifteen to twenty pounds came off very slowly. Sometimes taking more than a year. One woman told me that she finally understood that the ideal weight she pictured for herself, was actually too low. She settled at a healthy weight that is higher then her ideal. She looks great and feels very healthy. Her job now is to maintain the weight loss and remain healthy.
In addition, girls gain weight when they reach adulthood. Most people don't like to hear this. It is common to weigh fifteen to twenty pounds heavier in college then in high school...because you are reaching full adulthood and biologically getting prepared to bare children. Of course, the world doesn't work that way anymore and most girls chalk it up to the Freshman 15...don't you find it interesting that these two events generally coincide?
Now that said, if you have been downing pizza, pop, cookies and chips all year, you have been eating too much sugar. I am of the opinion that sugar isn't good for anyone, even thin people. Cut back on the sugar and you will be healthier, even if you don't lose any weight.
Of course, this is just my take on the situation. Take it for what's worth.

I agree with Noxzema on needing a sample menu. You may be having more carbs than you think. But also keep in mind that as you lose weight, you may be gaining it in muscle from the exercise. Are your clothes fitting differently? I don't gauge my loss by the scale anymore. It hasn't budged in over 3 weeks, but I've gone down 2 pant sizes AND everyone at work keeps saying I'm melting away. I get angry because the scale says the same thing it used to, but I KNOW I'm actually losing weight.
