I have been on Atkinson for about 2 weeks now, and have almost lost 15 lbs. Woo-Hoo! But my concern is this. I've read a lot that people get constipated on this diet. I havan't really experienced this, where I had to go but couldn't or jusT had a hard time. But I've noticed that I just haven't had to go at all. I guess you could say I haven't been regular (this is so embarrasing!). I may go two to three days between urges. I have been trying to get fiber in the things I eat, like salads, etc, and even take fiber con pills daily...but nothing. Like I said, I'm not in any kind of discomfort with it, it just concerns me b/c before the diet, I went at least once a day. Should I be concerned and go see a doctor, or is it just that since I'm eating less and better that my body simply isn't 'wasting' as much food? PLEASE HELP!!

Regularity IS important to good GI health--you may notice a change in frequency on this kind of eating plan, but even if you're not uncomfortable now, prolonged periods between bowel movements are not a good thing long term. Make sure to get in both healthy doses of fiber from natural sources like veggies and nuts, and to keep your fat and water intake levels up.

Since you're nearly off induction, you should notice more consistent elimination as you add in more carbs. Aim to add in high fiber things like nuts, seeds, raw veggies, etc. Hope this helps.

A lot of people say having Flax meal sprinkled in a lot of what they cook helps a lot with this.

I have recipes for flax cereal and pancakes and eat both regularly. I also put it in Blue Bunny (Splenda sweetened) Yogurt.

Maybe this will help??

I have had similar problems. First, I discovered and then later read that I was not drinking nearly enough water. I must drink about 4 liters of water for my size, now 231. My weight loss have increased since I have increased my water intake. I also recommend ground flax seeds on your salads. They must be ground in a pestal or something otherwise they will not digest properly. This is important to get handled. Good luck.
