Hi there, I am new to these forums but I have been on the Atkins diet for about nine months now. I started the diet so that I could serve my country in the army and i finally made that goal but my goal weight has not been achieved. I have gone from 280lbs down to 189lbs, i wasnt even able to run a mile when i started now i can run it in under six minutes. Even through this i cannot seem to lose the last 19 lbs to get to my goal weight of 170 lbs. I have had a system of where i go on the diet for 3 months go off for two weeks then go back on and it used to make me lose weight faster...but that has changed. I went back on the diet about two weeks ago and have seen no results in my weight. My keotone levels keep fluxuating like crazy...when i wake up they are insanly high but when i get home from working hard at work (i currently am a stockboy for walgreens, I ship out for the army march 25th) they seem to be low and i only consume around 10 grams of carbs per day. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Matt

Wow! You've lost a lot! I would think you are already at a solid, normal weight for a guy...how tall are you? A weight of 170 would be appropriate for a male about 5'8" or shorter. As far as your current quagmire, are you drinking lots and lots of water? Have you analyzed your diet to see if there might be secret carbs sneaking in that maybe you haven't been counting? keep us posted!

By the way, what do you mean by your keotene levels? What are they and what are their signifigance? How do you know how high or low they are?
