I'm new to this (am sooo happy to have found this site) I would be grateful if anyone could give me suggestions... first off..... I have a nasty head cold and b4 Atkins would chug down some liquid cold medicine before going to bed. I'm sure it's loaded with sugar and is a no-no. Are there any suggestions for a replacement to dry up my miserable nose?
Secondly, any other good sites out there you'd recommend for good lo-carb recipes would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for "basic" recipes with easy to find ingredients. Thanks

Hi Ruthie and welcome. I can sympathize with the cold situation. I've been sick since Thanksgiving. Finally went to the doctor. I take Dayquil and Nightquil for mine plus the stuff that Doc prescribed. Sure hope you feel better. Homemade Chicken soup is good. Also try to rub some mentholated rub on your chest and feet, it works. As far as recipes are concerned, they have recipes at www.thinner.com and www.lowcarbcafe,com. I believe the Atkins site does too. I even found recipes on this website so they are out there. I myself decarb my favorite foods so except for no rice, potato's, or regular pasta I pretty much eat the same. They've got some great substitutes for those items anyway. Good luck, and hope you feel better soon, Judy

HI, I heard on the news last night that Nyquil has 28 Carbs a shot...YIKES I have used that for colds quite often without even thinking about it
www.3fatchicks.com has a lot of recipes for Atkins and other LC groups. They also have Sugar Busters, and some of those recipes work for us too. My favorite former site unfortunately closed their forums and I lost a lot of good recipes I was too lazy to copy and paste to word.
if you sign up you get tons of email recipes on some days, and I quickly delete all the ones with titles I dont like and try the rest. You can just go to the site and see what she has...I bet at least 2000 recipes with a lot of repeats.
I spend most of my on-line time looking at LC recipes now....it is a compulsion....side effect of the WOE for me!
