As I have mentioned .. I drink my 2 cups of half reg/half decaf coffee in the morning, with Splenda and Half and half..
Would I know if this was causing too much insulin production by my ketostix not turning purple??
I am still in ketosis.. and was wondering if that was the way you would gauge it?
Am I making any sense here?? LOL

I'm not doing Atkins but another board I hang out at has commented on the fact that if you drink lots of water, the ketostix don't turn as purple or any purple since your stream is mostly water.

Wonder what the pro's will say?

I've done Atkins about 4 times before. My first time was the most successful (as usual) and I lost 10 lbs. (out of a total of 15 I needed to lose) during induction even while drinking a daily cup of coffee with aspartame and non-dairy cream (...has sugar), which I now can't do or recommend. My ketostix never went past "moderate" and most of the time just showed "trace". In contrast, two years ago during induction I only lost a few pounds and would lose neither weight nor inches if I raised my carbs any even when the sticks were showing I was on ketosis. However, I found out a couple of months later that I was hypothyroid which slows down metabolism, so I probably was barely using the fat in my food for fuel and that's what changed the color of the sticks. That proved what I read somewhere else that what the sticks show is simply that your body is breaking down fat for fuel, be it dietary or stored fat!!
