It's not a low-carb diet, but it's good to have it in our view. Here it's an excerpt:

Normally, one would say that this theory is not logical as, while asleep, you burn fewer calories. But what determines good effects of sleep on the body weight is the regulation of bodily chemicals during sleep. Thus, scientists have discovered that sleep deprivation lowers the leptin level and raises the grehlin one. Leptin is a blood protein that suppresses appetite operating in the brain and affecting the way the brain perceives the satiety feeling. Grehlin is a substance that makes people want to eat and it rises when the body is deprived of sleep."
