Hi! Thank you, Tiffany, for adding this board! I have been on Protein Power since July and have lost almost 40 lbs and have gone from a size 18 to a size 10! I have never been able to lose weight before (I was always thin until I had 4 children and a bad marriage and divorce, then the pounds hit!) My husband was so impressed with how much weight I lost that he started on Protein Power in September and has lost almost 30 lbs. We both still have 15 to go and then maintain it! Anyone else here on Protein Power?

Hi Terre, I was wondering, what's the difference(s) between Protein Power and Atkins? I started Atkins 9 days ago (because everyone I know is or has been on Atkins) after reading the book. But I don't know anything about Protein Power. For instance, in Atkins you are allowed no more than 20g carbs/day on Induction (the first 2 weeks), then you're supposed to add 5g carbs per week, until you find your limit where you don't lose weight anymore. What's Protein Power like? Thanks, Kathy

Hi i am new to the site, but not to lowcarbing. I have been lowcarbing for a year and a half. I have lost 60lbs, and have been maintaining. I went from a size 24 to a 16. I would love to lose 40lbs more. It seemed so simple before, I have to find my motivation again. I also have PCOS. and have been ttc for 4 years. So lowcarbing means so much more to me than just losing weight. But i know it works! I am so glad i found this site.

Terre, I would suggest you invest in the book written by Drs. Eades "Protein Power Life Plan". Make sure you get their 2nd book. It is great! It really makes you understand how your body processes what you eat and how it effects you. Protein Power is a lot less restrictive and easier to follow than Atkins. I have been on it twice. I read Atkins and just couldn't do it. (But I do absolutely agree with his philosophies) About 5 years ago, I lost 30 lbs. from the first Protein Power book, then of course after I lost the weight, I started eating carbs again and gained back about 20 before I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 almost 1-1/2 years ago. That is when I went back to low carbing with their 2nd book and have stayed on it ever since. I lost the extra pounds and my blood sugars are under control WITHOUT medication. It is remarkable. Good luck on whichever you choose.

Hi...I am on Protein Power too. I love this WOE. It is not nearly as restrictive as Atkins and works as well. Actually, it works better since it is much easier to stay on.
I read both books about this WOE. The first, Protein Power, is very good, but the 2nd, The Protein Power Life Plan, has the most useful information and is easier to read. It explains what the different foods do to us. There is an especially good section on "leaky gut syndrome."
Both books were both written by Michael R. Eades, M.D. and his wife, Mary Dan Eades, M.D.
I would suggest everyone get one of them, preferably The Protein Power Life Plan and read it. It is a wonderful reference book to keep and have on hand and you can buy it pretty cheaply at: www.half.com
My big downfall is having a sedentary job for so long. I really must so something about exercise... ...and soon.

I am so glad I found this community. I have been on Protein Power and I really like it. It's the only plan that's works for me. BUT right now, I haven't been doing to good on it. I started back on it again this week and I have been doing pretty good. Posts: 2 | From: Indiana | Registered: Jul 2002

The only encouragement that makes a difference is that which comes from yourself. What are your goals for this lifestyle? Are you trying to lose weight only, or are you trying to help some sort of illness? My motivation has been health, from the start. When I cheat, I notice! So what keeps me going is remembering the pain and fatigue I experience when ingesting the "bad" stuff. Everyone's inspiration and motivation varies. What do you hope to achieve?
