It sure tastes like the real thing. Maybe because...... IT IS!!!!

I wrote them an email asking if the FDA approved EVERYTHING stated on their packaging. I noticed that they conveniently left off the carb subtraction until far BELOW the nutrition label. This led me to believe the FDA doesn't even know they put the "Carb Facts" on the package! The nutritional info shows 42 g carbs per serving and only 4 g fiber. Sugers, as they spell it, are 1 g. They don't even know how to spell sugar!!

I told them that I experienced intestinal distress from their product, and that I gained weight after eating only 2 servings (with no other dietary change that day.) It also messed up my bloodsugar -- my body reacted to their product as if it were "real" pasta.

They never responded. Big surprise.

Ut Oh [Frown]

I had read this before, but had forgotten about it. Thank goodness I've only fixed 2 meals with it.

It really boggles my mind why a company, who is trying to make a profit and continue to sell a product, would label something low-carb when it actually isnt. Don't they know that if people begin to gain weight after eating their product, they won't continue to buy it? Not a smart idea.

I've been doing some reading on the Dreamfields pasta. Here's an interesting article I found:

LowCarbHealth.org

Still this doesnt explain the effects that Tiffany had when she ate it. If anyone else has had adverse effect from Dreamfields pasta, please do post it here.

Thanks!
Angie

I have tried Dreamfields many times and was extremely pleased with the taste. As a pasta lover I thought this was the answer to all my diabetic dreams. It wasn't. My after eating blood levels were fine. The problem comes the next few days. The next morning, my blood level is 15 points higher than normal. I am usually at a 105, it usually tests in the 120 to 125 range the morning after eating Dreamfields. One day wouldn't be bad, but it stays there for almost a week. Additionally, instead of acting like fiber, it has the reverse effect, I have small to no BM's during that time. This is really odd when you consider I eat two servings of Fiber One for breakfast every day, giving me 28 gms of fiber every day. When the dam finally breaks, my blood levels drop back down to normal and life becomes normal again. Don't get me wrong, I have seen enough good about this product to believe that it works for most but like a lot of the low carb products, it's not for everyone. My body actually deals with regular pasta better than it does Dreamfields. Regular pasta spikes my blood, but a little exercise and a good ole trip to the bathroom and I am back under control.

My son has type 1 diabetes and not only does he test his blood sugar quite frequently but he also has a continous glucose monitor that he is testing (not yet FDA approved for kids), hence we can really see (real time effects on blood sugar).
With regards to Dreamfields pasta we love the taste. We agree that it somehow blocks most of the carbs for the first three to four hours, however.....we have seen a great rise in blood sugar many hours after the fact. Dinner is at 6:00 PM. By 2:00 AM his sugars will have risen at least 100 points and don't come down (with added insulin) in a predictable fashion.

I still can't decide about this stuff. I think I'll stick with whole wheat pasta.
