Dia, have you read either "The New Diet Revolution" by Dr. Atkins, or "The Carbohydrate Addicts Lifeplan" by the Drs. Heller? Which of the two plans appeals more to you?
I could give you some 'nutshell' differences, but unless you have some familiarity with at least one of the programs, that would really be oversimplifying, and what you'd be getting is my interpretation of the plans. If you're trying to figure out which plan would be right for you, one thing that might help is to go to someplace like the diets and wellness center on www.ivillage.com and use their 'compare the diets' feature to compare the two plans--although, again, that's a real oversimplification of each. You can also search the web for "low carb diets compared" and you'll get more than a few websites that have taken a shot at comparing the plans.
But bottom line, nobody can hand you the information with the same depth as the authors. I know it can seem easier to ask "what's the difference?" and take that information as fact--but you're going to be more successful at a plan that you really take the time to understand from the inside, from the author's point of view.

I do have Dr. Atkins books. I took a look at the website for CAD, and just because I've already learned so much about Atkins, I guess that's what I'll keep doing. Thanks for your reply though. Dia

I think the main difference is the amount of carbohydrate you can have.
I haven't read the newer version of the CAD book, so it's hard to say what the current differences are - I hear they changed the plan a bit because the older one didn't work very well.
I'd have to agree with Gaelen on reading the books so you can make an educated decision on which plan is right for you.

I'm not familiar with Atkins. The main feature of CA way of eating is: two meals with no carbs one meal at which you have carbs, in balance with low-carb vegs and protein
As far as I can see, the newer books have just refined info about what foods contains amounts of carbs that may be problems to very sensitive folks- eg. broccoli, some flavourings, etc. It just depends on your body sensitivity whether some of these things are 'triggers' for the hyperinsulinemia/ insulin resistence merry-go-round.
