I just had a baby 2 mths and 24 days ago lost a total of 62 lbs on atkins. I switched to kimkins & then lost 5 more. But that was a week and half ago. I did cheat one day by eating the atkins way, I was also suffering from that T.O.M. Is any one else doing kimkins or the boot camp? I would love some one to chat with and compare notes.

Never heard of either one but our webmaster, Tiffany, just had a baby. I'm sure she'll be here when she has some free time and will have some suggestions for you.

what is Kimkins? I lost 30 lbs. so far just from taking care of the baby, but I need to get losing more now that summer is coming and was considering Atkins again. Is Kimkins similar?

Kimkins is a modified version of Atkins, where you count all carbs (not net carbs), so all of your fiber counts toward your daily tally. You stay under 20 carbs, eat no fruit or vegatables, no cheese, and you try to eat lean meats only. Stay away from too much fat. Eat just enough to make your meal edible. So you basically exist (and lose) on a diet of lean meat, eggs, and lettuce. That is Kimkins in a nutshell.

Wow -- no veggies, even? that doesn't sound very good. How would your body expel the meat with no fiber?? Lettuce doesn't do that good, does it? Obviously a short-term diet, right?

I have been on Kimkins since June 25 and have lost 88 pounds so far. Nici is right about the 20 carb limit (no net carb counting), but we do eat vegetables (the list of acceptable ones is similar to Atkins' induction list).

From what I have read, a low fat low carb diet will make one nauseous and is potentially health threatening. Why? Because you need a certain amount of calories which will not probably be supplied by the meat alone so the body will use fat stores and muscle to meet its needs. Boosting the fat assures muscle tissue won't be used for energy.
