A friend of mine told me about an AWESOME site for those against the use of that nasty sugar substitute "maltitol."

Maltitol is especially an issue for those with IBD, or even IBS, as it causes serious intestinal distress and can take a remissive gut back into flare-up.

Being a sufferer of Crohn's Colitis, I try to stay away from maltitol as much as possible. But occasionally I crave a candy bar. Unfortunately most contain large quantities of maltitol (Labrada makes a candy bar where maltitol is the first ingredient, and in 1/3 of the bar, is 8 whopping grams of it. Eat the whole bar and even a healthy intestinal tract will be quite disturbed.)

Anyway, in case anyone else like me feels like maltitol should not even be FDA approved, I provide this link. It's a fairly sparse site but I'm sure we can help them grow it!

I am totally against Malitol also..and other sugar alcohols.

Some say you can subtract these sugar alcohols to get net carbs..personally I am against that..as sugar alcohols do make a rise in your blood sugar..and then they come crashing down.

My personal opinion is stay away from LC frankenfoods! Dr. Atkins wanted us to keep it pure

Even if not following the Atkins plan..keeping it pure makes more sense. And will mean more weight loss

Dont forget to drink that good ole H2O

Malitol is evil..Just say no to LC treats
