This is my first post. I started doing Atkins on 3/1/04. Interestingly enough, I started because I did an argumentative paper arguing AGAINST the low carb diet. Well, sure enough that planted the seed and here I am trying the diet myself. I am quite discouraged though because I have only lost 5 pounds after 3 weeks on this diet.
I have to admit that I have made some mistakes. Today I made one actually. I at some Jello and fruit. I was at school and it is so hard to find something low-carb to eat there. I eat sugar free jello all the time at home, so I forgot that regular jello has sugar in it (duh!). Well I figure that added an extra unwanted 20 carbs. Sure enough I am out of Ketosis. This is not the first mistake I have made, but I try not to let it discourage me. But I am reading about everyone who has lost so much more weight in less time then I lost my 5. I work out 4-5 times a week, but this is not new I have been working out for about 5 years now. I just started weight training about a year ago. I have good muscle tone and definition, but my BMI is still about 28 and my BF is about 30%.
I find that my body really fights to stay at my current weight. I can eat as much or as little, usually with no change. I had my heart set on Atkins because I had seen the results. No such luck for me! I haven't given up though because even if I lose only 5 pounds a month that is better then nothing. Plus this diet isn't all that bad.
