Hello! I am a 40 y/o Mom of 2 boys; 9 and 12. When I got preg with my oldest all my friends were these incredible women....home birthers, home baby food makers etc. I wanted to learn it all and dove into reading and reading. I becamse a moderate vegetarian, not excluding meat but minimizing it when I was pregnant. I just wanted to be healthy and have healthy babies. Well....while my friends were living on Taco Bell and McDonalds and afternoons with Soda, Salsa and Chips, I kept myself busy in a bunch of things and watched what I ate. I gained 70 lbs with my oldest and 74 lbs with my youngest. My bestfriend at the time said, "you be healthy, I'll be thin!" and she laughed. Well, she got thin and I have had the hardest time ever trying to loose this weight. I had always been a twig, eating whatever I wanted and not gaining .....then all of a sudden 9 years after my youngest I am carrying about 50 lbs more than I want to.
I have read just about every diet out there...I just enjoy anything on diet, natural health etc. My intro into low carbing first came from Protein Power Plan, I have also read Body Type Diet by Abbravanelle, Atkins, Diet for your Blood Type by D'Adamo, Suzette Summers, Susan Powter, and probably a few others are sitting on my bookshelves that I can't remember. A friend just handed me the South Beach diet and I have skimmed through it.
The one "diet" that I tend to favor the most has been the D'Adamo approach which makes sense why so many of us are overweight....more than any other blood type there are more O's out there and O's tend to be healthier eating higher protein and lower carbs.
Two years ago I took the D'Adamo guidelines, wanted to inrease my effort once and for all shed this weight and add the Atkins theory while taking Food Enzymes to help break down the added protein in my diet and treating myself to some pineapple on the weekends to aid in digestion as well. I started working out at a club, doing Spinning 3x a wk, Pilates 3x a wk, and lifting 2x a week. The weight started coming off! Then we had to move, I have no club, life has gotten reallllly stressful and in addition to living on no sleep I am gaining......I currently can't fit into my jeans and am living in swets when a year ago I was about to give the jeans away because I was inching down a size.....
So....today.....I discovered a couple really cool low carb sites and this is one...so I am here to hopefully hear your stories, be inspired by your success and hopefully be able to shed this weight and still be healthy and then stay healthy and show my kids a good example of living a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
I am looking forward to exchanging ideas with you!
