Hello! this is my first visit. I must admit I am really confused by this low-carb dieting. I know it really works for some people, but I haven't done too well. I found this web site in "The Secret to Low Carb Success!"

I feel your pain. I have just started last Monday, and worry about everything I put in my body, from caffaeine to asprin to food, etc. I just feel like there's no room for error on this diet. And if you don't go into ketosis and you're eating all this fat and protein, that would be deadly for your heart. So I stress constantly. Hopefully in the next week or so I'll start seeing some weight loss, and then I'll know that it's working. I would say some key points to remember are: drink lots of water, and pretty much nothing else at least in the beginning. If you get into diet drinks,, and flavored water, etc etc etc, you never know what might be in there to screw up your diet. I'm hoping that I get hooked on water so that it will just be second nature to drink it with meals, and order it at restaurants, etc. Secondly, I would try going without any caffeine. This seems to vary from person to person, and I am hoping that I won't have to give up my morning coffee, but if I don't see results I will have to. Thirdly, be sure you read the package of everything you eat and keep track of your carbs. Sometimes things will be sugar free but still have loads of carbs, or something you wouldn't expect to have ANY carbs, like some lunchmeat, will sneak 3 or 4 in on you. And it doesn't seem like much, but if you start adding up at the end of the day, and you've got 3 carbs here, 5 there, 2 there, etc, etc, etc, before you know it, you've blown the plan in spite of working SO hard at it. In conclusion, it seems like a good diet, and the quickest/easiest way to lose weight so try to stick to it, and you WILL lose. You just can't try to do it casually, ie: I'm just going to cut down on my carbs...start drinking sprite instead of mtn dew, start eating low carb bread, start using less sugar, etc, etc, etc,....you have to be all for it if you expect results. And in a few days, you will be so proud, and feel so good, you won't miss the garbage you had been eating. I see this already in just a few days. Good luck!
