Hi everyone, I just started back on the low carb diet yesterday and looked online for sources to purchase some low carb foods. Well, I will just be upfront, I can't afford these pre-packaged foods! I was on the Atkin's diet about 15 years ago and lost a lot in a few weeks. At the time my parents owned a small steak house so I just ate enormous amounts of steak...never would have thought that I could get tired of eating steak lol, but after reading some of the induction menus, it really sounds much more confining that I remember it being. I thought that I could eat about as much as I wanted as long as I stayed away from carbs.. Am I remembering incorrectly? Also, I like to make my own food. Where do most of you purchase items such as soy protein isolate, soy flour and such as that? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Britony

I am new here too, but have been low-carbing for over 5 years and 2 kids. I do Protein Power but I am somewhat familiar with Atkins.
I keep some low-carb stuff around but I try not to eat it everyday, for cost and weight loss success.
I agree - the low-carb stuff costs alot, and some of it is pretty gross. Here are two suggestions
1. Find a good health food store and go there to look around.
2. Check out www.lowcarbluxury.com for their extensive low-carb product reviews, or any other site you can find that give expert evaluations of the products so that if you do buy something it hopefully won't be gross.
Talk to you later! Abby
